Dawson County Schools: Emergency Fund

In Dawson County, when a crisis strikes—a sudden job loss, a medical emergency, or an unpaid rent bill—there’s often no safety net. There are no family shelters. Nonprofit resources are limited. And many families don’t know where to turn. That’s why the Dawson County Emergency Fund exists.

In partnership with The Place, this Be Rich-funded initiative equips Dawson County Schools social workers with the ability to act quickly, compassionately, and powerfully. There’s no lengthy approval process. Just real-time, immediate help for the students and families who need it most.

“Being able to move quickly to address a need is so valuable in many situations,” shares one Dawson County social worker. “Without this fund, we would have to say ‘no,’ and many students would go without basic necessities like food, housing, water, and electricity.”

In the past year, this Emergency Fund has prevented 16 families from becoming homeless. It’s helped parents keep their jobs by covering summer camp or daycare costs, and it’s allowed kids to stay in school—focused on learning, friendships, and just being kids.

The partnership with Be Rich hasn’t just provided financial relief.

“It’s meant that we always have backup support to allow us to keep students in their homes,” the team member continues. “Having an entire church community supporting us allows Dawson County families to succeed in hard times.”

When you give to Be Rich, you make that kind of backup possible and help ensure families find stability, dignity, and hope when they need it most.
