The Place: Refrigerated Food Truck

The Place is on a mission to support, empower, and transform the lives of individuals in our community, and they do it through providing the essentials—whatever that may be—on a case-by-case basis.

This individualized support can be seen clearly in their Food Services program. The Place prides themselves in offering 100 percent choice for the people they serve. Rather than collecting a pre-made kit at a set time, clients are able to choose their pickup day and time and choose the food they serve their families.

Cristy Ferencie, president of The Place, explained the why behind this choice:

“It saves food because when you hand everyone the same thing, stuff gets thrown away, and it also allows for much more dignity and respect so that what you’re bringing home to your family aligns with your taste and your culture.”

There was one problem though… The Beast.

“The Beast” is how everyone at The Place affectionately—and not so affectionately—referred to their old food delivery truck. Not only did an employee have to come jump-start The Beast every Monday morning in order to get it running, it also had a broken AC and refrigeration unit. This meant that The Place was immediately ineligible to transport produce and perishable items due to the Health Department’s transit temperature requirements.

Thanks to your generosity through Be Rich, we were able to donate a brand-new refrigerated truck to the Food Services Department of The Place.

“The gift of the 18-foot refrigerated truck to The Place has been a true blessing for our clients,” said Food Services Director Deborah Ross. “The ease and confidence with which we are able to move food between our three locations has been incalculable.”

Your contribution not only enables The Place to serve more people and offer more food but also dramatically improves the experiences of the employees who work tirelessly to deliver for their clients regardless of the challenges they face along the way.

“Thank you, Browns Bridge, for helping The Place serve our neighbors in the best way possible… timely, fresh and consistent food!” Cristy said, “We are forever grateful for your gift and love for our mission!”
