BCM Georgia: Emergency Rental Assistance
You're working hard to provide for your family. You clock in every shift, budget every dollar, and somehow it works. Rent gets paid, even though it eats up more than half of what you bring home each month. Your kids are fed, enrolled in school, settled into a routine. It isn't easy, but you're doing it.
Then something goes wrong.
Maybe it's a car repair that cleans out your account. Maybe your job relocates and cuts your hours. Maybe it's a diagnosis or an injury that sidelines you while medical bills pile up. Whatever the cause, the result is the same: you're suddenly behind on rent, staring at an eviction notice, and wondering how you'll keep a roof over your children's heads.
For thousands of working families across Atlanta, this isn't a hypothetical. It's one missed shift, one ER visit, or one home repair away.
BCM Georgia’s Emergency Rental Assistance program stands in the gap for families facing exactly this kind of crisis. Because housing isn’t just an address. It’s the school your kids attend, the friends they make, the community you belong to. Lose the housing, and families may face a disruption that impacts many areas of their health and well-being.
Last year alone, BCM provided emergency rent assistance to 1,016 households—more than 2,400 parents and children—helping families catch up before one missed payment could spiral into eviction, upheaval, and everything that follows. And it works: more than 90% of the families BCM serves stabilize long-term because of this short-term support.
Families like Jackie’s. A mother of two, she lost work hours recovering from a leg injury and was on the verge of eviction when BCM stepped in. "This resource saved us, truly."
Or Stephanie, who stayed in her home with her daughter while undergoing treatment for cervical cancer. Or Gabriel, a father of three who feared losing his home after a sudden layoff while his wife worked part-time to hold things together.
Thanks to your generosity through Be Rich, even more families reached BCM’s door and found help waiting—so one hard season doesn't have to cost them everything.
