Lighthouse Family Retreat

Walking through cancer is never easy, no matter the age. Lighthouse Family Retreats offers a respite for families by providing a week-long beach retreat as they walk through childhood cancer diagnoses and treatments.

In July 2022, 18 of you responded to the invitation to serve at a Lighthouse retreat in North Carolina. While retreat families focused on reconnecting and experiencing joy, this team of volunteers cooked, cleaned, played with kids, and allowed the parents to rest and spiritually recharge. They saw God work in meaningful ways. One Hamilton Mill family was paired with a family whose son has autism. As the Hamilton Mill family also has a son with autism, they were able to serve the retreat family well because they understood the unique needs and challenges of an autistic child.

Through last year’s Be Rich campaign, you helped fund a Lighthouse weekend retreat in a new region and provided additional care for families with children in hospitals. But your generosity didn’t stop there.

You also funded the development of a smartphone application that enables retreat participants and volunteers to view schedules and paperwork, message those on their retreat, access important information, share pictures, and more. This app aids families by adding another layer of ease, support, and encouragement as they navigate a hard season. Our Hamilton Mill team directly benefited from your generosity on their retreat in July, and Lighthouse families will continue to benefit for years to come.

Thank you for being FOR your community!
