La Casa de mi Padre

La Casa de mi Padre has spent the last 20 years ministering to children and families in El Salvador. They specifically serve children who have been removed from their families by the court system because of abuse, neglect, or abandonment by placing them in a Christ-centered children’s home with loving foster parents. Many children who come to these homes arrive as angry or grieved, and some are traumatized by the effects of gang violence.

Esperanza was one of these children. At the age of 11, she and her two brothers witnessed the violent death of their mother and were shot and wounded in the encounter. Esperanza came to La Casa angry, aggressive, and scared. She had no idea how to deal with her grief and pain and had no desire to remain at La Casa. After one of the counselors started working with her to help her heal from her past, the walls Esperanza built began to come down. Now, she’s doing well in school, she loves the Lord, and she even told a counselor that she’s full of joy now.

Thanks to your generosity during last year’s Be Rich campaign, you helped fund La Casa de mi Padre’s counseling program. Families are at the heart of everything La Casa does as a ministry, and their counseling program is an intricate part of their healing. You also funded the training of their counselors in EMDR techniques, which help reduce the time children have to spend processing their trauma. Esperanza is one of the many children who have directly benefited from this type of counseling, and her life and future are forever changed because of it.
