Heart for Lebanon

The country of Lebanon has struggled for decades with civil war, corruption, foreign occupation, and poverty. It also contains the largest number of refugees per country capita in the world— namely, Syrian refugees. These marginalized communities are the reason Heart for Lebanon exists. Across two locations, this ministry works to share the light and hope of Jesus with the Lebanese people and Syrian refugees as they support and care for impoverished families, widows, and orphans.

One of the many ways Heart for Lebanon does this is through a program called Hope on Wheels. This program, housed in a box truck, rolls into refugee camps to supply food, music, and Bible stories to children at two different locations in the north and south of Lebanon. The Hope on Wheels staff not only helps feed the refugees but also supplies them with God’s truth and some fun in the midst of their difficult circumstances. However, with only one truck and team between two camps located four hours apart, they haven’t been able to invest in each of the communities the way they’d like to.

Thanks to your generosity during last year’s Be Rich campaign, you funded a second Hope on Wheels staff team that ministers to the Syrian refugees in Lebanon. Now when the truck comes to and leaves a camp, a team is able to stay in the area to build intentional relationships with the people at each location for longer than one day or night at a time. This allows them to regularly reach upwards of 3,000 children who in turn can spread light to their families and friends. You also funded food distribution across the country. Because of the current crisis in Ukraine, from whom Lebanon purchases their grain, they are experiencing a countrywide grain shortage. From Heart for Lebanon’s office locations and through their Hope on Wheels program, they’ve been able to distribute much-needed food for both the Lebanese people and Syrian refugees.
