410 Bridge: Foundations for Farming

In the rural communities of Guatemala's Western Highlands and San Martín regions, many families face a daily challenge: how to grow enough food to feed their own households. Even on fertile land, without the right training or resources, a family can still experience food insecurity.

Our partners at 410 Bridge launched their Foundations for Farming (F4F) training program to help nourish families physically and spiritually.

F4F teaches practical agricultural skills alongside biblical principles so communities can grow food sustainably and steward their land well. The four-week course mixes classroom instruction with hands-on fieldwork, covering essential techniques like land preparation, fertilization, composting, and weed control, all taught through a biblical lens that highlights the themes of faith, faithfulness, and fruitfulness God can teach us through nature. Every course includes a visible demonstration garden, giving families a living example of what's possible on their own land.

In 2025, more than 100 individuals completed the training. Thanks to your generosity through Be Rich, 410 Bridge is building on that momentum in 2026. They’re expanding F4F across all nine of their partner communities in Guatemala with a full year of instruction running February through November. Your donations fully funded all F4F training costs for the first half of the year.

Right now, between 65 and 75 students from seven rural communities are participating in the program, gaining skills to produce food for their households and create new sources of income for their families. Byron David Martinez, 410 Bridge's Economic Development Program Director in Guatemala, put it this way:

"The impact we hope to achieve goes far beyond technical training. We believe this program will help improve the living conditions of families, strengthen food security, and create new opportunities for sustainable development in the rural communities of Guatemala.

Your support is sowing hope, dignity, and new opportunities in the lives of many people. Thank you for believing in this project and for being part of the transformation we are witnessing in our communities.”

That's the real harvest of this program. Beyond composting and planting techniques, families are gaining the tools to build a more sustainable future.

Your generosity is helping transform communities from the ground up—literally.
