Neighborhood Pantry Support - 2022

MUST’s Neighborhood Pantry Program provides easy access to food and other necessities for school-aged children and their families. In December 2017, with the help of Be Rich funding, MUST opened their first Neighborhood School Pantry in Cherokee County at Hasty Elementary School. Since then, they have expanded their Neighborhood Pantries to include four additional school host sites. Last year, the program served nearly 800 children from 350 households in Cherokee County, providing them with almost 40,000 pounds of food. This gift provides continued support to the Neighborhood School Pantries.

Rent and Utility Assistance - 2022

MUST’s Cherokee Housing Program has grown as an important community safety net for struggling families and individuals. The 2021 U.S. Census Bureau data finds that 6.7 percent of Cherokee County's 275,000 residents live at or below the poverty level. With this funding to help with rent and utility needs, 67 families in Cherokee County will remain safely housed in their own homes.

Motel Voucher Program - 2022

For individuals and families who are already experiencing homelessness, MUST provides motel vouchers to safely house them for 30 days while working on a long-term housing and employment solution. This gift allows MUST to shelter 35 households for 30 days each.
