Chestatee Elementary School
Emergency Assistance for Students and Families - 2024
When their basic needs are not met, students have a difficult time learning. This gift provides funds for Chestatee Elementary School to help their students in need with clothes, food, and medical supplies and services.
Positive Behavior Intervention Support - 2024
Positive Behavior Interventions Systems (PBIS) is a program schools use to reinforce good behavior and reduce negative behavior. This type of program requires various resources, and this gift helps to keep Chestatee's school store stocked with school supplies and prizes that motivate students to behave respectfully and responsibly. This gift also provides substitutes for five teachers to attend PBIS training.
1:1 Technology Learning Support - 2024
Having a one-to-one ratio of Chromebooks to students allows teachers to fully implement instructional programs and allows students to use technology to create projects that integrate all subject areas. This gift covers the cost of 50 additional Chromebooks allowing Chestatee Elementary to grow closer to their one-to-one goal.
Dyslexia Endorsement Training - 2024
The Georgia Dyslexia Law goes into effect for the 2024–2025 school year and requires schools to have a minimum of one dyslexia trained staff member. This gift funds the training of two staff members in the dyslexia endorsement, increasing their number of staff who hold the endorsement to four. This distinction positively impacts how Chestatee Elementary School serves its students showing characteristics of dyslexia.
Lexia Lab Expansion - 2024
Lexia is an academic intervention for students who need to improve their literacy skills. Chestatee has created a Lexia Lab, which students attend in the mornings before the school day begins. By working in the Lexia Lab before the school day begins, students can maximize their instructional time in class. This gift funds approximately 25 seats in the program for the 2024–2025 school year.
Mindfulness Training - 2024
Stress and anxiety are at an all-time high for students and teachers. The teachers at Chestatee Elementary School have the unique opportunity to attend a three-day workshop on how to reduce stress and create mindfulness for both the students and teachers. This gift absorbs the substitute teacher fees associated with allowing 12 teachers to attend the workshop.
Mentor Me Support - 2024
Many students need extra tutoring and mentoring support and there is not always enough time in the school day to fit it in. Mentor Me provides Mentoring After School (MAS) to support students with educational and mentoring resources. This gift funds the cost of one teacher to attend and support MAS with ESOL children to improve their reading and language skills.
